Job Description

Collect biological specimens such as blood, urine, stool, and sputum from patients with precision and care. Ensure accurate labeling, proper documentation, and safe transportation of all collected samples. Adhere to protocols for sample preservation, storage, and timely handover to the processing area. Perform routine and specialized diagnostic tests including CBC, blood glucose, urinalysis, ECG, and others using both manual and automated techniques. Operate and manage laboratory instruments such as analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges, and ECG machines. Accurately record test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or designated reporting software. Prepare, cross-check, and submit diagnostic reports for final validation by pathologists or authorized medical personnel. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient data in compliance with healthcare data privacy standards. Perform routine internal quality control (IQC) procedures to ensure test result accuracy. Calibrate lab equipment regularly and participate in external quality assurance programs (EQAP). Report any deviations or concerns regarding test reliability to supervisors. Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory instruments as per SOPs. Report equipment faults, irregularities, or breakdowns promptly for timely repair or replacement. Follow biosafety protocols, infection control measures, and PPE guidelines at all times. Ensure proper segregation, handling, and disposal of bio-medical waste as per regulatory standards. Comply with accreditation requirements such as NABL, ISO, and other diagnostic quality frameworks. Communicate courteously and professionally with patients during sample collection and testing procedures. Provide clear instructions for pre-test requirements (e.g., fasting before blood tests). Address patient queries or direct them to the appropriate department when necessary.
