Refractory Lab Technician

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct testing of incoming raw materials (minerals, refractory, insulation) as per defined quality standards. Perform physical and mechanical property tests on refractory products, including density, porosity, compressive strength, flexural strength, etc. Operate, maintain, and ensure calibration of laboratory equipment, including: Hot Air Oven - for drying and moisture content testing. Muffle Furnace - for high-temperature testing and sample preparation. Digital Weighing Balance - for precise measurement of samples. Flexural Testing Machine - for bending strength testing. CTM (Compression Testing Machine) - Digital Hand Operated - for compressive strength tests. Force Measuring Device - for recording load and stress parameters. Prepare, cut, and condition refractory samples as per IS/ASTM/ISO standard test procedures. Record, analyze, and interpret test results accurately; prepare test certificates, data sheets, and detailed reports. Support R&D, production, and quality teams with reliable technical data for product and process improvements. Maintain laboratory documentation as per ISO/Quality Management guidelines. Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Diploma / ITI / B.Sc. in Chemistry, Ceramic, Refractory, Materials Science, or related field. 2-4 years of hands-on experience is desidered in refractory/materials testing. Strong knowledge of laboratory instruments, testing standards, and procedures. Ability to prepare accurate and professional test reports (MS Excel/Word proficiency). Good communication and documentation skills. Detail-oriented, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
