Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The role involves sample collection, processing, analysis, documentation, quality control, and maintenance of laboratory equipment while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with hospital standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Sample Collection & Handling
Collect blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other clinical samples following aseptic techniques.
Label samples accurately and ensure proper storage and transport.
Verify patient identity and test requisitions before collection.
2. Laboratory Testing
Perform hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and immunology tests as per protocols.
Prepare slides, culture media, reagents, and stains.
Conduct routine tests such as CBC, blood grouping, urine analysis, blood sugar, liver and kidney function tests, etc.
Assist in advanced diagnostic procedures under supervision.
3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Operate analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges, and other lab instruments.
Perform daily calibration, quality checks, and preventive maintenance.
Report malfunctioning equipment immediately.
4. Quality Control & Safety
Follow quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures.
Adhere to hospital infection control policies and biosafety rules.
Dispose biomedical waste as per guidelines.
Maintain clean and safe laboratory environment.
5. Reporting & Documentation
Record test results accurately in LIS (Laboratory Information System) or manual registers.
Ensure timely reporting of critical values to clinicians.
Maintain inventory of reagents, kits, and consumables.
Assist in audit and accreditation processes (NABL/NABH).
6. Patient Interaction
Explain procedures to patients kindly and clearly.
Provide pre-test and post-test instructions when needed.
7. Coordination
Work closely with pathologists, microbiologists, and other lab staff.
Support emergency sample processing during night shifts or on-call duties.

Qualifications & Skills
Education
DMLT / BMLT / MLT or equivalent diploma/degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Experience
0-2 years for junior roles; 2-5+ years preferred for senior roles.
Skills
Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
Accuracy, attention to detail, and troubleshooting ability.
Good communication and computer skills.
Ability to work in shifts and handle workload.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹15,292.28 - ₹29,204.20 per month
