Lead and manage the textile/garment lab: oversee fabric and garment testing (e.g. tensile, tear, color fastness, shrinkage, wet/dry tests, etc.), ensuring all test protocols are met.
Ensure compliance with national and international regulations, buyer codes of conduct, and ethical standards in garment manufacturing.
Develop, enforce, and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control plans, and corrective actions when testing or compliance issues arise.
Handle grievance procedures: establish and maintain grievance redressal mechanisms for workers/employees in manufacturing units, ensure timely resolution, monitor trends, follow-up, documentation.
Maintain lab accreditation, ensure equipment calibration & maintenance; ensure lab safety, housekeeping, environmental, and chemical safety compliance.
Collaborate with production, compliance, HR, and quality teams to ensure garments/fabrics meet both technical and ethical expectations throughout the manufacturing process.
Generate accurate test and compliance reports; document non?conformities; lead root cause analysis and plan corrective/preventive actions.
Lead, mentor & train lab staff; ensure awareness of compliance, grievance handling, and testing standards among team.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Textile Technology / Textile Engineering / Apparel Engineering / related discipline.
5?8 years (or more)
experience in fabric / garment testing and/or lab management in a garment manufacturing environment.
Proven knowledge of compliance requirements: labor laws, buyer code of conduct, environmental & chemical safety, audits, social compliance.
Experience in grievance redressal / employee relations or worker welfare in garment/factory settings.
Strong technical skills: understanding of textile testing methods and machinery.
