The Chemistry Lab Instructor is responsible for facilitating laboratory sessions, providing hands-on instruction, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for students. The instructor will guide students in performing experiments, analyzing data, and understanding chemical principles in alignment with the course curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:
Prepare and deliver engaging laboratory sessions that reinforce theoretical concepts.
Demonstrate proper techniques for laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
Assist students in developing skills for conducting experiments and analyzing results.
Curriculum Development:
Collaborate with faculty to design and update laboratory exercises and experiments.
Create instructional materials, including lab manuals, guides, and assessment tools.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all laboratory activities comply with safety regulations and best practices.
Conduct safety training for students and monitor adherence to safety protocols.
Assessment and Feedback:
Evaluate student performance in laboratory work and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and lab reports.
Student Support:
Provide academic support and mentorship to students, addressing individual learning needs.
Hold regular office hours to assist students with lab-related questions and concerns.
Equipment and Resource Management:
Oversee the maintenance and organization of laboratory equipment and supplies.
Assist in inventory management and procurement of laboratory materials.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay current with developments in chemistry education and laboratory practices.
Participate in professional development opportunities and departmental meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree(Bsc) in Chemistry or a related field.
Previous teaching or instructional experience in a laboratory setting.
Strong understanding of chemical principles and laboratory techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students.
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Working Conditions:
Work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and equipment.
May require standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights.
