Lab Incharge - Feed LaboratoryDepartment: Quality Control / Quality Assurance
Reports To: Quality Manager / Plant Manager
Job Summary:
The Lab Incharge is responsible for managing and supervising all laboratory activities related to feed quality testing, ensuring that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished feed products meet the company's quality standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves leading a team of lab technicians, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring accurate and timely analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:1. Laboratory Management
Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations for feed quality testing.
Plan, organize, and assign work to laboratory staff.
Maintain lab cleanliness, safety, and compliance with good laboratory practices (GLP).
2. Quality Testing
Conduct and supervise analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished feeds (e.g., moisture, protein, fat, fiber, ash, calcium, phosphorus, etc.).
Ensure calibration and standardization of equipment such as NIR, spectrophotometer, Kjeldahl unit, Soxhlet extractor, etc.
Verify accuracy and precision of analytical results.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed records of test results, sample logs, and quality reports.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory performance reports.
Ensure traceability and compliance with ISO, HACCP, GMP, or other quality standards.
4. Compliance & Audits
Ensure laboratory operations comply with internal policies and external regulations.
Coordinate with auditors and regulatory agencies during inspections.
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for any non-conformities.
5. Team Leadership & Training
Supervise, train, and evaluate laboratory staff.
Promote continuous improvement and technical skill development among team members.
6. Research & Development Support
Assist in feed formulation trials and product development by providing analytical data.
Support process optimization and problem-solving activities through data-driven insights.
Qualifications:
Education:
B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Animal Nutrition, Feed Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a feed or food testing laboratory, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in feed analysis techniques.
Knowledge of ISO 17025, HACCP, GMP, or related quality systems.
Experience with laboratory instruments and software.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership, attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
