Job Summary:

The Lab Chemist is responsible for performing chemical analyses, testing raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. The role involves preparing and standardizing reagents, maintaining laboratory instruments, and documenting results as per regulatory and company guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses of samples. Prepare and standardize reagents, solutions, and samples for testing. Perform tests using instruments such as UV-Vis spectrophotometers, HPLC, GC, FTIR, and titration equipment. Maintain accurate records of test results, observations, and calibrations. Ensure all testing complies with company SOPs, GLP, GMP, or ISO standards. Participate in method development and validation activities (if applicable). Maintain cleanliness and safety in the laboratory. Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments regularly. Report deviations, out-of-specification (OOS) results, or non-conformities to supervisors. Support audits and regulatory inspections as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory environment (freshers may be considered for entry-level roles). Strong knowledge of chemical testing methods and laboratory safety. Familiarity with analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, UV, FTIR, etc.). Good documentation and communication skills.

Key Skills:

Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability. Attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with MS Office and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

Primarily laboratory-based. Exposure to chemicals and solvents (appropriate PPE required). May involve shift work depending on company operations.
