Position: Lab Chemist - Foundry
Department: Foundry Lab
Reporting To: Plant Head
Location: Foundry - Sand Casting Manufacturing Unit

Job Purpose

To ensure consistent chemical composition, sand properties, and metallurgical quality of castings through systematic testing, analysis, control, and documentation, thereby reducing rejection and ensuring customer & export quality compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Perform chemical analysis of molten metal and cast samples using: Spectrometer / Wet Chemical Analysis Ensure compliance with grade-wise composition (CI, SGI, Alloy Iron, etc.). Maintain records of heat-wise chemical results. Suggest alloy additions and corrections to melting in coordination with Melting In-charge. Conduct regular sand laboratory tests, including: Moisture content Green Compression Strength (GCS) Permeability Compactability Grain Fineness Number (GFN) Clay content / LOI Monitor return sand, new sand & bentonite addition. Ensure molding sand parameters are maintained as per process standards. Monitor and control melting, pouring, and cooling practices through data analysis. Support reduction of casting defects such as: Blowholes Sand inclusion Shrinkage Hard spots Chemical mismatch Coordinate with production, molding & melting teams for corrective actions. Maintain lab test registers, reports, calibration records, and SOPs. Support ISO / IATF / customer audits. Ensure traceability of: Heat number Test results Casting batches Analyze rejection data and provide root cause analysis. Participate in process improvement & cost reduction initiatives. Implement standardization of test methods. Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals.

Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹32,000.00 per month
