The Lab Assistant will support daily laboratory operations by ensuring cleanliness, organization, and safe handling of materials and equipment. The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning
Maintain cleanliness of laboratory benches, equipment, and workspaces.
Assist in sterilization and proper disposal of laboratory waste as per biosafety guidelines.
Ensure glassware, tools, and accessories are properly cleaned and stored.
Organizing
Arrange and label laboratory supplies, consumables, and equipment in an orderly manner.
Maintain inventory records and notify supervisors of low stock or shortages.
Ensure work areas remain uncluttered and accessible.
Transporting
Safely transport samples, equipment, and materials within the facility.
Follow proper handling procedures to prevent contamination or damage.
Support timely delivery of items to respective work units.
General Responsibilities:
Assist researchers and technical staff in routine laboratory operations.
Adhere strictly to laboratory safety, hygiene, and ethical guidelines.
Report any equipment malfunction, safety hazards, or irregularities to the supervisor.
Maintain punctuality, discipline, and confidentiality in all tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum qualification: Higher Secondary (Science background preferred).
Prior experience in laboratory support roles is an advantage but not mandatory.
Physically fit to handle routine lab transport and cleaning activities.
Responsible, attentive to detail, and able to follow instructions accurately.
