An ETL Senior Support Engineer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day batch operations and maintenance of an organization's Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, ensuring data is accurately extracted from various sources, transformed as needed, and loaded into data warehouses or target systems, while also working with a team of ETL support specialists to troubleshoot issues, monitor performance, and implement improvements to maintain data integrity and system stability in a production environment; requiring strong technical expertise in ETL tools, database management, and problem-solving skills to address data quality concerns and system malfunctions.
Key Responsibilities:Production Support: Monitor ETL jobs in production, identify and resolve data loading errors, performance bottlenecks, and system failures in a timely manner. Incident Management: Lead the team in investigating and resolving complex production issues, escalating critical incidents to relevant stakeholders as needed. Data Quality Assurance: Conduct data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency throughout the ETL process, identifying and addressing data discrepancies. Technical Expertise: Maintain in-depth knowledge of ETL tools e.g., Abinitio Control Center, Unix and Database technologies like Oracle to optimize data transformations and loading processes. Team Leadership: Guide a team of ETL L1 support specialists , assigning tasks, providing technical guidance, and coaching team members on best practices. Change Management: Review and implement updates to ETL processes, take handover from dev team and update JIRA checklist Performance Optimization: Analyze ETL job performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement optimization strategies to enhance data processing speed and efficiency. Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of ETL processes, including technical specifications, data mappings, error handling procedures, and system architecture. Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with business users, IT infra teams and development teams to understand data requirements, address data quality concerns, and communicate ETL status updates.

Job Requirement

Technical Skills: Proficient in ETL tools (e.g., Abinitio, Informatica PowerCenter, Talend), SQL query writing, database management (Oracle, SQL Server), schedulers (Control Center, Control M) Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex data issues, troubleshoot system errors, and identify root causes. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor a team of ETL support specialists, delegate tasks, and foster collaboration. * Data Quality: Understanding of data quality best practices and methodologies to ensure data integrity throughout the ETL process.
