The Kitchen Helper will assist the culinary team with various tasks including food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen standards. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen, supporting chefs in delivering high-quality, authentic Indian dishes.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation Assistance:* Wash, peel, chop, and cut vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as per recipes and chef's instructions.* Grind and prepare spices, pastes (e.g., ginger-garlic paste), and marinades commonly used .* Assist in preparing doughs for breads like naan, roti, and paratha.* Portion and arrange ingredients for cooking.* Assist with basic cooking tasks under direct supervision, such as stirring curries, frying papads, or making simple garnishes.* Cleaning and Maintenance:* Wash and sanitize all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, dishes, and cooking equipment.* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of work stations, floors, walls, and all kitchen areas.* Empty trash cans and ensure proper waste disposal.* Clean and organize refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas.* Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.* Inventory and Stock Management:* Receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock (FIFO - First In, First Out).* Assist in checking inventory and informing the chef about low stock levels.* Organize and label food items and supplies.* Operational Support:* Assist chefs during peak service hours to ensure timely dish preparation.* Transport food items and supplies within the kitchen.* Follow all instructions from the Head Chef or Sous Chef.* Adhere to all health and safety regulations.*
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.* Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen environment, especially with North or Central Indian cuisine, is a plus but not mandatory.* Skills:* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.* Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety.* Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items.* Ability to follow instructions accurately.* Team player with a positive attitude.* Basic knife skills are an advantage.* Personal Attributes:* Hardworking and reliable.* Punctual and organized.* Eagerness to learn and grow within the culinary field.*
Working Conditions:
Requires standing for long periods.* Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.* Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 25 kg.* Working in a noisy environment with various kitchen equipment.*
