The Kiln Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining kiln equipment used in manufacturing or processing materials such as cement, lime, ceramics, bricks, or minerals. The role ensures efficient production while maintaining safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and control kiln systems according to standard operating procedures
Monitor kiln temperature, pressure, fuel flow, and material feed rates
Start up, shut down, and adjust kiln operations as required
Inspect kiln equipment, burners, fans, and refractory linings
Identify and troubleshoot operational or mechanical issues
Maintain product quality by adjusting process parameters
Record operating data, production logs, and maintenance reports
Coordinate with maintenance and control room staff
Follow safety procedures and environmental regulations
Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance tasks
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Kiln Operator certification or relevant technical training preferred
Experience in cement, lime, ceramic, or related industrial operations is an advantage
Skills & Abilities:
Strong understanding of kiln processes and controls
Ability to monitor instruments and interpret readings
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Attention to safety and quality standards
Ability to work shifts in hot, industrial environments
Working Conditions:
Exposure to high temperatures, dust, noise, and industrial equipment
Shift work, including nights and weekends, may be required
