General Summary:

Qualcomm Upstream Linux Kernel team based in Bangalore is looking for skilled and experienced engineers to work on Core Linux Kernel development used in Mobile, Compute and Cloud products. Scope of work would include developing new features in Linux kernel while adding support for bleeding edge CPUs and SoCs, scheduler and DVFS development for heterogeneous CPU topologies like big.LITTLE, memory management for RAM/IO mapping and allocation/buffer management schemes, debug and tracing drivers and tools, and bootloaders such as UEFI, U-boot and Coreboot. Scope of the work also includes optimizing runtime power/performance to help commercialization of products resolving various kernel issues reported by customers and other internal test teams, while also ensuring we work closely with the Linux open source community so all the support for new SoCs lands upstream in kernel.org. All this involves working closely with HW designers for requirements specification on new SoCs, system architects and engineers for broad feature design and implementation as well as working closely with internal stakeholders and partners (like Linaro), the Linux open source community and our various customers.

Minimum Qualifications: \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master\'s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

• Job function: Linux Kernel development for enabling and supporting various Linux based Distros on Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipsets for markets like Mobile/Smartphones, Laptops, Cloud, Wearables etc
• Work Experience: Atleast 5+ years of relevant Industry or Academic experience with Linux Kernel
• Skills/experience:

• Excellent knowledge of OS fundamentals, Data structures, Linux kernel and its device driver model
• Excellent programming skills and expert level knowledge of C
• Excellent debugging skills, using kernel tracers as well as JTAG and GDB debuggers
• Good knowledge of memory management, interrupt handling and power management in Linux
• Good understanding of ARM v8/v9 CPU and cache architectures
• Proficient in Git for development and patch/branch management
• Experience with python, perl, rust, shell scripting is a plus
• Knowhow of Linux Kernel upstream patch submission process with patches merged in kernel.org as well as experience working with community development boards (Dragonboards/Pandaboards) is a double plus
• Independent and self-motivated problem solver and strategic thinker
• Good planning, time management, decision-making, presentation, and organization skills
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
