Job Description

A Junior Telephone Operator manages incoming calls, answers inquiries, provides basic info, and redirects calls using a switchboard, focusing on efficient call handling, message taking, and ensuring caller satisfaction with professionalism, basic computer skills (CRM/MS Office), and strong communication for entry-level roles in various sectors. Key Responsibilities: Call Management: Answer, screen, and transfer calls to the right people or departments. Information & Assistance: Provide general company info, product details, or directions to callers. Message Handling: Accurately take, record, and relay messages when direct contact isn't possible. Customer Service: Handle basic queries, resolve simple issues, and maintain a positive tone. Record Keeping: Update caller details, contact lists, and maintain call logs. Emergency Support: Follow protocols for handling emergency calls. Basic Clerical Tasks: May include data entry, filing, or updating directories. Required Skills & Qualifications: Communication: Excellent verbal skills, clear voice, and professional telephone etiquette. Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of computers, MS Office, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. Personal Attributes: Patient, detail-oriented, good listener, ability to multitask, and a positive attitude. Education: High school diploma or equivalent often required. Typical Environment: Found in hospitals, corporate offices, BPOs, and customer support centers. Focus is on operational efficiency and service quality, with junior roles handling primary call volume.
