customer specifications, quality standards, and internal procedures
. The role involves supporting quality control activities across
incoming materials, in?process casting, finishing, and final inspection stages
.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Incoming Quality Control (IQC)
Inspect
incoming aluminium ingots, alloys, master alloys, and consumables
as per specifications.
Verify
heat numbers, chemical composition reports, and supplier test certificates
.
Maintain
incoming inspection records, test reports, and material traceability
.
Segregate, tag, and raise
Non?Conformance Reports (NCR)
for rejected materials.
Assist in supplier quality issues and corrective action follow?ups.
B. In?Process Quality Control (IPQC)
Monitor and inspect
casting processes
such as:
Melting and metal treatment
Pouring / Injection
Solidification and cooling
Check critical parameters including:
Melt temperature
Degassing effectiveness
Die / mould temperature
Perform
in?process inspections
for defects such as:
Porosity
Shrinkage
Cold shuts
Misruns
Cracks
Ensure
work instructions and control plans
are followed on the shop floor.
Support production teams in
process discipline and quality adherence
.
C. Final Inspection & Testing
Carry out
final inspection of cast products
as per drawings and customer requirements.
Perform
dimensional inspection
using tools such as:
Vernier calipers
Micrometers
Height gauges
CMM (basic operation, if applicable)
Assist in
mechanical testing
such as:
Hardness testing
Tensile testing (sample preparation support)
Coordinate for
chemical analysis and metallurgical testing
where required.
Ensure
only approved material is released for dispatch
.
D. Defect Analysis & Non?Conformance Handling
Identify and record
casting defects
with proper documentation.
Support
root cause analysis (RCA)
using tools like:
5 Why Analysis
Fishbone Diagram (Ishikawa)
Assist in implementing
Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
.
Track rejection trends and assist in
quality improvement initiatives
.
E. Quality Documentation & Records
Maintain and update quality records including:
Inspection reports
Test certificates
NCR reports
Rejection and rework records
Support documentation for:
Assist senior quality engineers in:
Customer complaints analysis
Preparation of
8D reports
Sample inspections and approvals
Participate in
customer audits and visits
, providing inspection data and reports.
Support
PPAP documentation
preparation (under guidance).
G. Calibration & Quality Tools
Assist in maintaining
calibration schedules
for measuring instruments.
Ensure usage of
calibrated instruments only
on shop floor.
Support implementation of basic quality tools such as:
Control charts
Check sheets
Histograms
H. Health, Safety & Housekeeping
Follow
safety procedures
related to molten metal handling and inspection areas.
Ensure
proper use of PPE
during inspections.
Support
5S and housekeeping activities
in quality inspection areas.
Report any
unsafe conditions or practices
immediately.
3. Authority
Authority to
reject non?conforming material
(with intimation to senior quality personnel).
Authority to
stop processing of defective batches temporarily
until reviewed.
Authority to raise
quality alerts and NCRs
.

5. Qualifications & Experience
Diploma / BE / BTech in
Mechanical / Production / Metallurgical Engineering
0-2 years experience in
aluminium casting or foundry quality
Freshers with foundry exposure may also be considered
