The Junior QC Engineer (Civil) assists in implementing and monitoring quality control procedures at the construction site to ensure that all civil works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and standards. The role involves inspecting materials, workmanship, and site activities to maintain project quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Inspection & Monitoring
Conduct daily inspections of civil works such as concrete, reinforcement, formwork, masonry, plastering, and finishing activities.
Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
Verify material quality and check test certificates before use.
Testing & Documentation
Coordinate field and laboratory tests for concrete, soil, aggregates, and other construction materials.
Maintain records of test results, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Prepare daily QC reports and submit them to the Senior QC Engineer.
Compliance & Coordination
Ensure compliance with project quality plans, codes, and standards (IS Codes / ASTM / BS).
Assist in the implementation of Quality Management System (QMS).
Coordinate with site engineers, subcontractors, and consultants regarding inspection requests (IR) and quality issues.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
Identify and report non-conformities in workmanship or materials.
Assist in corrective and preventive actions to eliminate quality issues.
Material Approval & Control
Support material approval process through submittals and samples.
Ensure proper storage and handling of materials at the site.
Safety & Housekeeping
Ensure that all site activities adhere to safety and quality standards.
Promote good housekeeping and proper handling of equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering
Experience:
0-2 years of experience in quality control at civil construction sites
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of civil materials testing
Understanding of construction drawings and QA/QC documentation
Familiar with IS codes and construction standards
Soft Skills:
Good observation and reporting skills
Team coordination and communication
Detail-oriented and proactive attitude
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Quality compliance rate of site works
Number of NCRs raised and resolved
Timeliness of inspection reports
Adherence to QMS and documentation accuracy
