Position Overview:
The Purchaser for Electrical and Automation Products in the Marine, Oil & Gas industry will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring electrical and automation components and systems. This role requires a deep understanding of the industry-specific requirements, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement and Sourcing:
o Identify and evaluate suppliers for electrical and automation products specific to the marine, oil, and gas industries.
o Manage the end-to-end procurement process including request for quotations (RFQs), purchase orders (POs), and contract negotiations.
o Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends and new product developments.
o Solicit quotes, evaluate proposals, and negotiate contracts to secure the best terms and conditions.
Supplier Management:
o Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
o Evaluate supplier performance based on delivery time, cost, quality, and reliability. Implement corrective actions for underperforming suppliers.
Order Management:
o Process purchase orders accurately and ensure timely procurement of materials.
o Track and manage orders from placement to delivery, ensuring all documentation and compliance requirements are met.
o Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to manage inventory levels and optimize stock.
Cost Control and Budget Management:
o Monitor and manage procurement budgets for electrical and automation products.
o Implement cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for value engineering.
o Prepare and analyze procurement reports to track spending and identify trends.
Compliance and Documentation:
o Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier communications.
o Prepare and present procurement reports and documentation for management review.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
o Work closely with engineering, project management, and quality assurance teams to understand technical specifications and project requirements.
o Collaborate with finance to ensure accurate invoicing and payment processes.
o Support the sales team by providing cost estimates and delivery timelines for project bids.
