Identify plant diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, and other pathogens through visual inspection & microscopy
Collect and process plant samples from field, greenhouse, and storage facilities.
2. Research & Development
Design and execute disease screening trials for breeding programs.
Develop and validate protocols for disease resistance evaluation.
Maintain pathogen cultures for controlled studies and research purposes.
3. Disease Management
Recommend preventive and curative disease control measures.
Develop integrated pest and disease management (IPDM) strategies.
Evaluate chemical, biological, and cultural control methods for effectiveness.
4. Data Analysis & Reporting
Record, compile, and analyze research data for accuracy and reliability.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications.
5. Collaboration & Training
Work closely with plant breeders, agronomists, entomologists, and production teams.
Train staff and farmers on disease identification and package of practices.
Qualifications
Education:
M.Sc. in Plant Pathology, Agriculture
Experience:
2-4 years
Skills:
Basic knowledge of plant diseases and their causal organisms.
Familiarity with laboratory and field trial procedures.
Ability to collect, handle, and process plant samples.
Good observation and record-keeping skills.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
