A Junior Microbiologist at CDNA Labs LLP will support the microbiology team in conducting routine microbial testing, maintaining laboratory quality standards, and ensuring accurate and reliable results for food and drug testing. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build strong technical skills and grow in a NABL-accredited commercial laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Microbiological Testing:
Perform routine microbiological analysis of raw materials, water, environmental samples, in-process materials, and finished products.
Follow standard test methods such as total plate count (TPC), yeast & mold count, pathogen detection (Salmonella, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, etc.), and other relevant tests.
2. Sample Handling & Preparation:
Receive, label, and log samples accurately as per SOPs.
Prepare culture media, reagents, and consumables required for testing.
3. Quality & Compliance:
Strictly adhere to laboratory SOPs, GMP, GLP, ISO/IEC 17025, and NABL guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness, documentation, and discipline in the lab.
4. Documentation & Reporting:
Record observations, test results, and deviations in logbooks or LIMS.
Assist in preparing test reports ensuring accuracy and traceability.
5. Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
Operate and maintain microbiology instruments such as autoclaves, incubators, laminar airflow units, colony counters, etc.
Report equipment malfunctions and participate in preventive maintenance activities.
6. Support in Method Development:
Assist senior microbiologists in method validation, verification, and new test development as required.
7. Safety & Hygiene:
Follow biosafety protocols, waste disposal procedures, and safety practices in the laboratory.
Use PPE and ensure safe handling of pathogens and chemicals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Microbiology
,
Biotechnology
, or related life science field.
1-3 years of experience
in a microbiology laboratory (preferably in food & drug testing or a NABL-accredited lab).
Basic knowledge of microbiological techniques, media preparation, and aseptic practices.
Understanding of
ISO/IEC 17025
, GMP, and relevant regulatory standards is preferred.
Good documentation skills and attention to detail.
