The Junior Merchandiser will assist the merchandising team in the coordination and execution of product development, sourcing, and sales strategies for the home textile industry. This role will involve close collaboration with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal departments to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products that meet quality and cost standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development:
Assist in the development of new products and collections based on market trends and customer demands.
Collaborate with designers and suppliers to create samples and prototypes.
Review and provide feedback on product samples to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
Sourcing and Vendor Management:
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and manufacturers.
Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and negotiate terms and pricing.
Ensure suppliers meet delivery schedules and quality standards.
Order Management:
Process purchase orders and track the progress of orders to ensure timely delivery.
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to manage inventory levels and shipments.
Monitor and report on order status, highlighting any issues or delays.
Market Research:
Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor products, and customer preferences.
Analyze sales data and market feedback to inform product development and merchandising strategies.
Communication and Coordination:
Work closely with the sales, marketing, and design teams to ensure alignment on product launches and promotions.
Prepare and present product information, sales reports, and market analysis to the merchandising team.
Assist in the preparation of sales and marketing materials, such as product catalogues and presentations.
Quality Control:
Assist in the quality control process, including inspecting products and addressing any quality issues with suppliers.
Ensure all products comply with industry standards and regulations.
Administrative Tasks:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all merchandising activities.
Assist in budget tracking and expense management related to merchandising projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, Textile Management, or a related field.
3-4 years of experience in merchandising, preferably in the home textile industry.
Strong understanding of product development, sourcing, and supply chain management.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to a fast-paced industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of home textile products and market trends.
Experience with ERP or inventory management systems.
Basic understanding of design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer.
Occasional travel may be required to visit suppliers and attend trade shows.
