Receive construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, electrical/plumbing items, tools, etc.) as per delivery challans and purchase orders.Physically inspect materials for quality, quantity, and damages.Coordinate with Quality Engineer for material testing and approval.Report discrepancies to Procurement or Site Management immediately.
2. Inventory Management
Maintain accurate stock levels of all construction materials, consumables, and tools.Update daily stock registers (manual/digital) promptly.Conduct periodic stock verification (daily/weekly/monthly).Track fast-moving and critical materials to avoid stockouts
.
3. Storage & Handling
Ensure proper stacking and storage of materials as per safety and quality guidelines.Implement FIFO/FEFO methods for consumable items.Maintain housekeeping of stores and ensure materials are protected from weather damage.Label all materials for easy identification.
4. Material Issuance
Issue materials to site engineers and supervisors as per material requisition slips (MRS).Record each issue accurately in stock registers or ERP.Ensure that excess materials returned from the site are properly checked and recorded.
5. Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain GRNs (Goods Receipt Notes), MIVs (Material Issue Vouchers), MRS, and stock reports.Keep organized records for audits and inspections.Upload documents in ERP systems like SAP, Tally, or company-specific software (if applicable).
6. Coordination with Internal & External Teams
Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery of materials.Work closely with site engineers, procurement teams, and project managers.Follow up on pending purchase orders and shortages.
7. Reporting & Communication
Prepare daily/weekly stock reports and material consumption summaries.Update management on slow-moving, non-moving, or scrap items.Provide accurate data for cost control and project planning.
8. Safety & Compliance
Ensure all handling and storage practices follow safety guidelines.Maintain checklist for equipment/tools issued to staff.Support in conducting safety inspections for stores.
9. Tool & Equipment Management
Maintain records of tools issued to workers and subcontractors.Track tool returns and identify missing or damaged items.Assist in maintaining calibration schedules for tools.
10. Continuous Improvement
Suggest improvements to reduce material losses and wastage.Participate in training related to storekeeping, ERP, and safety.
