The Junior Doctor is responsible for providing basic medical care under the supervision of senior doctors, ensuring continuous patient monitoring, accurate documentation, and timely execution of treatment plans in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care
Perform initial patient assessment, history taking, and physical examination.
Monitor vital signs and clinical progress of admitted patients.
Implement treatment plans as prescribed by consultants.
Provide first-line management in emergency situations until senior intervention.
2. Clinical Duties
Assist consultants during ward rounds, procedures, and emergency care.
Write daily progress notes, orders, and discharge summaries.
Ensure proper execution of investigations and follow-up of reports.
Perform minor procedures as permitted by hospital policy and competency.
3. Emergency & On-Call Duties
Attend emergency calls promptly and manage cases within scope.
Stabilize patients and escalate critical cases without delay.
Participate in night duties, shift duties, and on-call rotations as scheduled.
4. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely, and legible medical records.
Follow hospital SOPs, NABH standards, and clinical protocols strictly.
Ensure informed consent documentation is completed where applicable.
Report adverse events, incidents, and near-misses as per policy.
5. Infection Control & Safety
Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control practices.
Follow biomedical waste segregation and disposal guidelines.
Use PPE appropriately and promote patient and staff safety.
6. Communication & Coordination
Communicate patient status clearly to consultants and nursing staff.
Counsel patients and attendants regarding treatment plans and progress.
Coordinate with diagnostics, pharmacy, and allied departments.
7. Academic & Professional Development
Participate in CMEs, training sessions, and audits.
Keep medical knowledge updated as per current clinical guidelines.
Support quality improvement and clinical audit activities.
