The Junior Civil Engineer supports senior engineers and project managers in planning, executing, and monitoring construction and civil engineering projects. This role involves on-site supervision, quality checks, documentation, and assisting with project design and coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Supervision & Execution
Assist in supervising daily construction activities and ensuring work is performed as per design, specifications, and safety standards.
Monitor contractors, laborers, and subcontractors and report progress to senior engineers.
Ensure materials used meet quality and project requirements.
Support in preparing daily progress reports and maintaining site records.
Quality Control & Compliance
Conduct inspections on work quality, alignment, levels, and measurements.
Identify site issues and report them to the senior engineer for resolution.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company standards, and civil engineering norms.
Assist in testing materials such as concrete, soil, and steel when needed.
Project Coordination
Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and contractors for timely execution of tasks.
Assist in preparing drawings, BOQs, and other project documentation.
Follow up on material deliveries and ensure proper storage on-site.
Support senior staff in preparing reports, schedules, and technical documents.
Technical Support
Assist in reviewing project designs, drawings, and structural plans.
Help prepare project estimates, cost calculations, and quantity take-offs.
Use engineering software (AutoCAD, MS Project, etc.) for basic drafting and reporting.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
0-2+ years of experience (internships or site exposure preferred).
Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials, and civil engineering standards.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and basic knowledge of project management tools.
Strong analytical, observation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work on-site for extended hours and adapt to field conditions.
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
