A Junior Engineer for control panel wiring is responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing electrical control panels according to engineering drawings and schematics. This role requires the ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, have a basic knowledge of electrical components, and understand safety standards. Key duties include installing and connecting electrical components, troubleshooting wiring issues, and performing quality checks to ensure compliance with standards

Core responsibilities

Panel assembly and wiring:

Assemble and wire control panels, junction boxes, and PLC panels based on wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.

Component installation:

Install and connect electrical components such as relays, contactors, MCBs, MCCBs, PLCs, sensors, and HMIs.

Reading and interpreting documents:

Accurately read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.

Testing and troubleshooting:

Perform electrical testing and quality assurance on wired panels. Identify and resolve wiring issues and troubleshoot related automation hardware.

Safety and compliance:

Adhere to all electrical safety protocols, industry standards, and relevant codes (e.g., NEC, IEC) to ensure work is performed safely and legally.

Documentation:

Maintain proper documentation, which may include wiring diagrams, test reports, and bill of materials (BOM).
Required skills and qualifications

Technical skills:

Hands-on experience with control panel wiring. Basic knowledge of electrical components and systems, including PLCs, motors, and VFDs. Familiarity with electrical standards and safety practices. Basic knowledge of design software like AutoCAD is a plus.

Problem-solving:

Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are essential.

Teamwork:

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Education:

A diploma or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is often required.
Additional potential duties

Assist with the design of control panel layouts and electrical schematics. Participate in installation, testing, and commissioning activities at client sites. Collaborate with senior engineers on project development. Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
