Roles and Responsibilities of a Junior Architect1. Design Development
Assist in the preparation of architectural designs under the supervision of senior architects or project managers.
Create initial sketches, drawings, and concepts based on client requirements.
Conduct research on materials, trends, and best practices to incorporate innovative ideas into the design process.
2. Drafting and Documentation
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings using software like AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit.
Assist in creating construction documentation, including site plans, elevations, sections, and details.
Organize and maintain project documentation, ensuring accurate and updated records.
3. Collaboration and Coordination
Work closely with senior architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure alignment on design objectives.
Attend project meetings to gather information and provide updates on progress.
Coordinate with various stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
4. Site Visits and Supervision
Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to architectural plans.
Document and report site observations to senior architects or project managers.
Assist in addressing on-site challenges by providing quick solutions or adjustments to designs.
5. Compliance and Quality Assurance
Ensure that all designs and plans comply with building codes, zoning laws, and other regulations.
Review blueprints and specifications to identify errors or areas for improvement.
Incorporate sustainable design principles and energy-efficient solutions where applicable.
6. Learning and Development
Stay updated on the latest architectural trends, software, and industry practices.
Participate in training programs or workshops to enhance technical and design skills.
Seek feedback from senior team members to refine skills and improve performance.
7. Presentation and Client Interaction
Assist in preparing presentation materials for client meetings.
Create visualizations, renderings, and models to communicate design ideas effectively.
Gather client feedback and make necessary revisions under supervision.
Skills and Competencies Required
Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc.).
Strong understanding of architectural principles, design concepts, and construction techniques.
