Site Accountant

is responsible for managing the financial operations at a construction or project site, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and that financial reporting aligns with the company's policies and project requirements. Here's a typical job description for a Site Accountant:

Key Responsibilities:



Financial Management:

Oversee all financial transactions and ensure accurate recording in accounting systems. Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring expenses remain within set limits. Prepare financial reports, such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for site management.

Invoice and Payment Processing:

Review and verify vendor invoices, ensuring correct calculations and compliance with contract terms. Process payments for contractors, suppliers, and other project-related expenses. Maintain a record of all transactions and payments to ensure transparency.

Cost Control and Budgeting:

Assist in the preparation of project budgets and provide regular updates on financial performance. Track and analyze project costs, providing insights into potential savings or cost overruns. Ensure proper allocation of costs to various project codes or categories for accurate reporting.

Tax and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local tax laws, withholding taxes, and other relevant regulations. Maintain records of tax filings and payments. Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.

Cash Flow Management:

Monitor cash flow for the site to ensure sufficient funds are available for ongoing expenses. Prepare cash flow projections to aid in financial planning and decision-making. Manage Petty Cash.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the project manager, procurement team, and other stakeholders to ensure the financial health of the project. Provide financial insights and advice to site management to support effective decision-making.

Reconciliation:

Perform regular reconciliation of accounts, ensuring all transactions match with supporting documentation. Resolve discrepancies promptly and ensure all financial records are accurate and up to date.

Reporting and Documentation:

Maintain thorough documentation of all financial records, receipts, contracts, and other relevant documents. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for upper management or corporate offices.

Skills and Qualifications:



Education:

A degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is typically required. Professional certifications can be an advantage.

Experience:

At least 2-5 years of experience in accounting, with a preference for experience in construction or project-based accounting.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or SAP) and MS Excel.

Analytical Skills:

Ability to analyze financial data, track costs, and identify financial trends.

Attention to Detail:

Accuracy in managing financial records and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Communication Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with both internal teams and external parties.

Reporting Structure:



The Site Accountant typically reports to the Project Manager or Site Manager, but may also provide reports to the finance department at the corporate office.
