Job Description

A Junior Accountant in a construction office is responsible for supporting the financial department with day-to-day operations, with a specific focus on project-based cost tracking, vendor payments, and compliance. They typically handle data entry, reconcile bank statements, and maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable for various projects.

Core Responsibilities



Accounts Payable (AP) & Subcontractor Payments:

Process subcontractor and vendor invoices, review them for accuracy, match them with purchase orders (POs), and prepare them for approval.

Accounts Receivable (AR) & Billing:

Generate invoices, manage progress billing for projects, and follow up on outstanding payments from clients.

Data Entry & Bookkeeping:

Record daily financial transactions (e.g., fuel receipts, material purchases, labor bills) into accounting software such as Tally, QuickBooks, or Sage.

Reconciliation:

Perform bank and vendor statement reconciliations to ensure accuracy.

Payroll Support:

Assist with gathering payroll expenses and processing timecards for site workers.

Compliance & Tax:

Assist with GST filings, TDS (Tax Deducted at Source), and other statutory compliance requirements.

Job Costing & Reporting:

Assist in tracking project-wise expenditures and budgets to identify cost variances.

Administrative Support:

Maintain financial files, contracts, insurance policies, and general office duties.

Key Qualifications & Skills



Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

1-4 years in accounting, with experience in the construction or real estate industry preferred.

Software Proficiency:

Strong knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups) and accounting software (Tally ERP, QuickBooks, Sage).

Construction Knowledge:

Understanding of job costing, progress billing, and lien waivers is highly advantageous.

Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
