Jewellery CAD Designer

Key Responsibilities

Design & Modelling

Create detailed

2D sketches and 3D CAD models

of rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, watches, and other jewellery items. Develop designs based on

client briefs, trends, and brand guidelines

. Ensure models meet

technical, functional, and manufacturing requirements

.

Manufacturing Support

Prepare

CAM-ready files

, STL/OBJ exports, and technical drawings for production. Collaborate with

manufacturing teams

, artisans, and gem setters to ensure feasibility. Make adjustments for

casting, stone-setting, engraving, and assembly

.

Quality Assurance

Check models for correct

dimensions, tolerances, prong thickness, stone seats, weights

, and production viability. Perform digital rendering for internal review and client presentations.

Collaboration

Work closely with designers, product developers, and sales teams. Communicate with clients to understand design requirements and provide updates.

Trend & Material Research

Stay updated on

jewellery trends, gemstones, cuts, and metals

. Research new CAD/CAM technologies and materials to improve product innovation.

Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

Proficient in jewellery CAD software such as:

Rhino / RhinoGold / MatrixGold

ZBrush

3Design

KeyShot or V-Ray

for rendering Strong understanding of

jewellery manufacturing processes

, including casting, stone setting, and finishing. Knowledge of

gemology basics

(stone measurements, cuts, proportions).

Creative & Professional Skills

Strong visualisation skills and design sense. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to interpret client ideas and convert them into manufacturable designs. Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Educational Requirements

Diploma/Degree in jewellery design, industrial design, or a related field. Additional CAD certification is a plus.
