Job Description

A jewellery accountant manages a jewellery business's finances, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations, and provides insights to management. Key responsibilities include managing inventory, accounts payable/receivable, and financial records; preparing financial statements and reports; assisting with audits and tax preparation; and supporting pricing and cost control strategies within the unique context of the jewellery industry. Key Responsibilities

Financial Recordkeeping:

Maintain accurate ledgers, financial statements, and records of daily transactions.

Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, perform variance analysis, and provide actionable financial insights to management.

Accounts Management:

Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and conduct account reconciliations.

Inventory Management:

Handle inventory accounting, which is crucial for businesses dealing with high-value and diverse stock.

Compliance and Auditing:

Ensure compliance with financial regulations, assist with internal audits, and support external audits.

Taxation:

Prepare and file tax returns, often with a focus on Goods and Services Tax (GST) relevant to the jewellery sector.

Cost Accounting and Pricing:

Play a vital role in cost control, inventory valuation, and developing pricing strategies to ensure profitability.
Essential Skills

Financial Software Proficiency:

Expertise in accounting software, such as Tally.

Analytical Skills:

Strong analytical abilities to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
