Job Description

The Role

We are looking for developers with significant experience in backend development in a modern

cloud-based architecture. Your primary focus will be development of server-side logic and

development of micro services, definition and maintenance of data sources, and ensuring high

performance and responsive API's to service requests from the front-end. You will be leading other

engineers, evangelizing about engineering and guiding them to deliver well structured, high quality,

solutions, with a focus on engineering excellence and an appreciation of the full SDLC.

The right candidate has the ability to quickly grasp and map highly complex matters into clean,

understandable solutions. You will also have strong communication and organizational skills and be

willing to prove yourself within a company of talented individuals.


Responsibilities

? Working with teams across the organisation to architect, design, and implement solutions

? Designing, developing and productising components and services that make up our Customer's

Product - a fully automated platform and CD stack we use to bootstrap and accelerate Customer

Journey Engineering

? Building reusable code and libraries

? Develop, test and deliver solutions for customers that provide highly scalable and repeatable

integrations

? A true "roll up the sleeves and get it done" working approach; a problem solver, operating as a

result-oriented, self-starter

? Leveraging your broad technology capability set and develop, and iteratively deploy real

enterprise class software

? Bringing a true DevOps, SRE and Agile mindset to the team - showing what it means to focus

Skills & Experience

? Must have:

? Strong problem-solving skills and hands on experience with data structures and

algorithms

? Very strong object-oriented design skills and understanding of well-engineered design

and running of microservices in a modern technology stack (GCP, Kubernetes, Helm

etc.)


Sensitivity: Internal & Restricted


? Core Java (with Java 8 features) + Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture, Web

Services, REST, JPA, Hibernate

? Service-Oriented and Event-Driven Architectures and common Design patterns (Kafka

streaming and Pub-Sub desirable)

? Delivering high quality, low complexity code including proven expertise in unit testing,

component testing, and BDD frameworks (e.g. Cucumber)

? Proven GCP experience

? GitHub

? Practical experience of CI/CD tools and practices (e.g. Jenkins and Harness)

? Strong communication skills and experience with stakeholder engagement and

management

? Database Experience (at least one of Big Query, Spanner, PostgreSQL, SQL/No SQL)

? Nice to have:

? Data Engineering experience

? Experience with Service Mesh technologies such as Istio for traffic management,

observability and service to service communication

? SRE mindset and proficiency in observability platforms, including Dynatrace and Splunk

? MVC, and knowledge of other server-side and Front-End programming languages
