Java Backend Lead with Kafka

Location: Bangalore (Initially Work from Office, later Hybrid)
Experience: 7-9 Years (with proven Lead experience)
Compensation: Up to 17 LPA

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Java Backend Lead with strong expertise in Apache Kafka and backend application development. This role requires not only hands-on coding skills but also leadership qualities to guide a team of developers, manage project deliverables, and collaborate with business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in building scalable, distributed systems, and will play a critical role in designing solutions that drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a team of backend engineers, provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices.

Architect, design, and develop backend systems using Java (Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices).

Design and implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, ensuring efficient handling of real-time data pipelines and message streaming.

Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to high-level solution design for scalability, availability, and performance.

Work closely with product owners, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Manage sprints, allocate tasks, and ensure timely delivery of features within Agile frameworks.

Troubleshoot and optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability.

Ensure seamless integration and deployments using CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicate technical details, and provide project updates.

Required Skills

Strong hands-on expertise in Java (Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices architecture).

In-depth experience with Apache Kafka for messaging, streaming, and real-time event processing.

Proficiency in REST APIs, Web Services, and API design principles.

Solid knowledge of Databases (RDBMS like MySQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases).

Experience with CI/CD tools, version control systems (Git), and Agile methodology.

Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimization.

Proven track record of team leadership, mentoring developers, and delivering projects.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders and articulate technical concepts clearly.
