Job Description

:
The IV Champion is responsible for performing expert intravenous (IV) cannulation, especially for patients with difficult venous access across the hospital. This role ensures timely, safe, and effective IV access for patient care, while supporting and mentoring staff nurses in enhancing their IV skills.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and perform IV cannulation for patients with difficult or challenging veins in all hospital departments.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety while following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
• Respond promptly to requests from nursing and medical teams for IV access support.
• Educate, guide, and mentor staff nurses to improve overall IV cannulation competency.
• Maintain accurate documentation of IV procedures performed.
• Participate in training programs, audits, and quality initiatives related to IV therapy.
• Collaborate with the nursing team to standardize IV practices and improve success rates.
