About Information Technology:
The Cloud Platform team is part of the Information Technology department of the bank. The team is responsible for the engineering and management of all the cloud platforms in the bank.
About the Role:
The Cloud FinOps Engineer is responsible for optimizing cloud spending by monitoring cloud usage, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing strategies to ensure an organization's cloud infrastructure operates within budget while maximizing its value, often collaborating with engineering, finance, and operations teams to achieve cost efficiency goals across the cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Cost Analysis: Analyze cloud spending patterns across different services and regions to identify areas for cost optimization, including underutilized resources, inefficient configurations, and potential cost leaks.
Cloud Usage Monitoring: Continuously monitor cloud resource utilization to identify trends, anomalies, and potential cost drivers, utilizing cloud monitoring tools to generate actionable insights.
Cost Optimization Strategies: Develop and implement cost-saving measures like rightsizing instances, utilizing reserved instances, implementing spot instances where appropriate, and optimizing data storage practices.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with finance teams to establish cloud budget constraints and create accurate cloud cost forecasts based on historical usage and anticipated demand.
Cloud Governance: Define and enforce cloud cost management policies, including tagging conventions, to ensure proper cost allocation and tracking across teams.
Reporting and Dashboards: Build comprehensive reports and dashboards to visualize cloud spending trends and provide key performance indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders.
Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with engineering teams to identify potential cost-saving opportunities within applications and infrastructure designs.
Technical Expertise: Possess strong technical knowledge of various cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their cost management features, including pricing models, billing mechanisms, and optimization techniques.
Data Analysis Skills: Utilize data analysis tools to extract insights from cloud usage data, identify patterns, and make informed recommendations.
Qualifications:
xc2xb7 Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Graduate in any stream
xc2xb7 Cloud fundamental certified on atleast any one of the cloud(Azure/ GCP/ AWS).
xc2xb7 3-6 years of experience in a Cloud Engineer or related position.
xc2xb7 Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.
xc2xb7 Interest in Cloud Engineering and its impact on greater business practices.
xc2xb7 Should have trouble-shooting skills to work on issues
Role Proficiencies:
xc2xb7 Cloud Computing Platforms: Expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
xc2xb7 Cost Management Tools: Proficiency with cloud native cost management tools and APIs
xc2xb7 Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data visualization or cost analysis tools like Apptio, Tableau or Power BI preferred
xc2xb7 Programming Skills: Basic scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) to automate tasks and integrate with cloud APIs
xc2xb7 Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial concepts like budgeting, forecasting, and ROI calculations
Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
