Job Description

An ITI Fitter's job involves assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment using hand/power tools and interpreting engineering drawings, focusing on precision fitting, cutting, troubleshooting, and ensuring machinery runs efficiently and safely in manufacturing, construction, or plant operations. Key duties include reading blueprints, performing maintenance, handling various tools, and ensuring quality control.

Core Responsibilities:

Assembly & Installation:

Fit, assemble, and install mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and machinery according to specifications and drawings.

Maintenance & Repair:

Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and repair malfunctioning equipment.

Fabrication:

Cut, shape, grind, and fit metal parts using hand tools (files, scrapers) and power tools (grinders, shears, torches).

Blueprint Interpretation:

Read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals to determine specifications.

Quality & Safety:

Perform inspections, ensure parts meet standards, and adhere strictly to safety protocols.

Tool & Instrument Handling:

Use and maintain measuring instruments (calipers, gauges) and operate various mechanical tools.
Key Skills & Requirements:

Technical knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Proficiency with hand and power tools. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and teamwork. Physical fitness and an eye for detail.
