Job Title: IT Server/Systems Engineer (L1)Job Summary:

An IT Server/Systems Engineer (L1) is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's server and systems infrastructure.

The Business context is that of a 200+ bed multi-speciality Hospital, in Mumbai, with strong growth plans.

This role involves being part pf a team responsible for running and maintaining uptime of Networks, Servers and Storage, of ensuring timely backups, of proactively monitoring and providing alerts of impending issues such as network usage, firewall usage, low free on disk, high continuous CPU and memory usage, systems approaching saturation or running slow or exhibiting errors.

This role involves being part of the team in ensuring the highest levels of system and infrastructure availability, performance, and security. The engineer should be able to setup, run and monitor Servers and Storage equipment including Virtual Machine configurations and SetUps, and also the Networking equipment, and organized daily/weekly activities around ensuring the uptime and backups of these Servers and Storage.

Key Responsibilities:

System Management: Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.

Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, networking and system management tools.

Performance Monitoring: Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.

Security & Backup: Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.

Scripting: Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and reduce human intervention time on tasks.

Support: Provide second-level support to the inhouse server/storage team and liaise with vendors and for problem resolution.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively and closely with the infra/systems team, and with other IT team members to work on growth/new requirements

Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's (or Higher) degree in Computer Architecture/Information Technology, Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Certifications (Preferred):

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or equivalent,

CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)

Managing Azure Implementing and managing storage, Deploying and managing Azure compute resources, Implementing and managing virtual networking

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

ITIL Foundation Certification

Proficiency in usage of Excel with numerical acumen, data analysis, modeling, and reporting tools.

Demonstrable proven experience as a Programmer of systems programs/workflow scripts is likely to be an advantage.

Proven experience to show ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

Experience: Proven working experience (2-4 years) in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows-based/Virtual Machine-based and SAN/NAS storage environments.

Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).

Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).

Understanding (several years of experience is likely to be an advantage) of networking fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and IT Security Fundamentals.

Demonstrable problem-solving and communication skills.

Demonstrable analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Attention to Details and Proactiveness

Demonstrable Self-Starter, Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Personable with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Good demonstrable comprehension, communication and articulation in English.

Additional Fluency in Marathi is desirable but not essential.

Demonstrable awareness/knowledge of IT Trends, developments and directions.
