Job Description

Common responsibilities for an IT Intern include: End-User Support: Provide technical assistance and support to employees for hardware, software, and network-related issues via phone, email, or in-person (help desk support). System Maintenance: Assist in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computer systems, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and applications. Hardware Management: Help with the setup, deployment, maintenance, and repair of IT equipment such as laptops, printers, and mobile devices. Network Assistance: Support basic network maintenance and troubleshooting, including understanding TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP, and occasionally assisting with physical network setup like running cables. Documentation: Create and update technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge base articles for IT procedures and common issues. Software Management: Assist with software installations, updates, patch deployments, and data backup/recovery procedures. Project Participation: Contribute to ongoing IT projects, such as system upgrades, security enhancements, or researching new technologies. Inventory/Asset Management: Help maintain an accurate inventory of IT hardware and software assets. Qualifications and Skills Employers typically seek candidates with the following qualifications and skills: Qualifications: Current enrollment in a degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A basic understanding of computer systems, networks, and software applications. Strong academic performance (some positions may require a minimum GPA). Technical Skills: Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS). Basic knowledge of networking concepts and protocols. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software. Basic programming or scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus for some roles.
