Overseeing Daily Operations: Managing the day-to-day operations of the IT department, including hardware, software, network, and security systems.
System Maintenance and Upgrades: Ensuring all systems are maintained, updated, and running at peak performance, which includes coordinating system upgrades and migrations.
Infrastructure Management: Managing and maintaining the overall IT infrastructure, including servers, networks (LANs, WANs, VPNs), and data management systems.
Security and Compliance
Data Security and Integrity: Ensuring the security and integrity of all IT systems and sensitive data, implementing measures like two-factor authentication and data backups to protect against cyber threats.
Risk Management: Developing disaster recovery plans and establishing best practices for IT security and risk management.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all IT operations and data protection practices comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Technical Support and Vendor Management
Providing Technical Support: Overseeing technical support for all staff, managing helpdesk operations, and troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues.
Vendor Relationships: Establishing and managing relationships with external technology vendors and service providers, including negotiating contracts and evaluating services.
Asset Management: Managing the inventory of IT assets, including computers, mobile devices, and network equipment.
Team Leadership and Development
Leading IT Teams: Providing leadership, guidance, coaching, and support to the IT team to ensure high performance and professional development.
Developing IT Policies: Creating and enforcing IT policies and procedures to ensure consistency and security across the organization.
Training Staff: Educating employees about network security, best practices for computer usage, and new technologies.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is mandatory, as is familiarity with administrative software, project management tools, and communication platforms
Office Management Systems Knowledge: Understanding how to operate and manage various office equipment (printers, phone systems, security access) and implement efficient administrative procedures
Building rapport, working collaboratively, and providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders is a core competency.
Handling sensitive information, such as personnel records or financial data, with a high degree of discretion is a critical ethical skill
