Job Summary
The IT Assistant provides technical support and assistance to users, helping maintain computer systems, networks, and software applications. This role supports day-to-day IT operations, troubleshoots basic technical issues, and ensures systems run efficiently to meet organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide first-level technical support to staff (hardware, software, network, and peripherals)
Install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, and other IT equipment
Assist with user account setup, password resets, and access permissions
Troubleshoot and resolve basic system, network, and application issues
Escalate complex technical problems to senior IT staff when necessary
Perform routine system checks, updates, and backups
Maintain IT inventory, documentation, and asset records
Support onboarding and offboarding of employees (IT setup and access removal)
Assist with cybersecurity best practices and data protection procedures
Provide basic training and guidance to users on IT systems and tools
Required Skills and Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Basic knowledge of Windows/macOS operating systems
Familiarity with common software applications (Microsoft Office, email systems, antivirus tools)
Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN, Wi-Fi, IP addressing)
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Good communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a helpdesk or IT support role
Knowledge of Active Directory, ticketing systems, or cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace)
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles
IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar)
Working Conditions
Office-based with occasional remote support
May require lifting or moving IT equipment
Occasional after-hours support during system maintenance or emergencies
