The IT Assistant provides technical support and ensures smooth daily operation of the organization's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
This role is suitable for small to medium-sized organizations that require hands-on support for end-users and system maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Support:
Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
Perform hardware upgrades and replacements as needed.
Software Support:
Install, configure, and update operating systems (Windows, Linux).
Install and maintain software applications (MS Office, Antivirus, ERP, etc.).
Manage software licenses and ensure compliance.
Network Support:
Set up and troubleshoot LAN and Wi-Fi networks.
Configure routers, switches, and modems.
Ensure network security through firewalls, antivirus, and regular updates.
End-User Support:
Provide technical support for employees regarding hardware, software, and network issues.
Handle password resets, connectivity problems, and application errors.
Respond to IT-related helpdesk requests in a timely manner.
Data Backup & Security:
Implement regular data backup schedules.
Assist in data recovery processes when necessary.
Keep antivirus definitions up to date and perform periodic virus scans.
Documentation:
Maintain hardware and software inventory records.
Log troubleshooting steps and solutions.
Assist in documenting IT policies and procedures.
Coordination & Procurement:
Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software purchases and maintenance services.
Escalate complex issues to IT Manager or System Administrator when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Educational Qualification:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related field.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Windows OS and basic Linux operations.
Networking concepts (IP Addressing, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
Hardware troubleshooting and installation.
Knowledge of MS Office, ERP software support.
Basic understanding of firewalls and antivirus solutions.
Data backup tools (e.g., Acronis, Windows Backup).
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving ability.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail and patience.
Team player and effective coordination skills.
