The IT Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, systems, hardware, and software. This role ensures smooth IT operations, system security, and timely technical support to all employees.
Key Responsibilities1. Server Administration
Install, configure, and maintain Windows/Linux servers.
Monitor server performance, availability, and capacity.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
Perform regular server updates, patches, and backups.
Troubleshoot server-related issues and ensure minimal downtime.
Manage virtualization environments (VMware / Hyper-V).
Monitor data storage, RAID configurations, and backups/restore operations.
2. Network Management
Monitor and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and firewall configurations.
Manage routers, switches, access points, and network security devices.
Ensure network uptime, speed, and security.
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
3. IT Infrastructure & Systems
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other office equipment.
Manage software installations, licenses, updates, and security patches.
Handle email administration (Office 365 / Google Workspace).
Maintain CCTV, biometric attendance systems, and other IoT devices.
4. Security & Data Protection
Implement and monitor antivirus, anti-spyware, and endpoint protection solutions.
Manage firewalls, security policies, and access restrictions.
Perform regular data backups and ensure disaster recovery procedures.
Identify and resolve potential security vulnerabilities.
5. User Support & Troubleshooting
Provide timely IT support (Level 1 & Level 2) to employees.
Resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
Train users on systems and provide basic IT guidance.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain IT asset inventories.
Document server configurations, network diagrams, and backup logs.
Prepare periodic reports on system status, incidents, and performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
2-5+ years experience in IT administration and server management.
Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
Experience with firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs.
Knowledge of backup systems and disaster recovery.
Good troubleshooting and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure).
Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
Scripting skills (PowerShell / Bash) - added advantage.
