The IP Billing Executive is responsible for handling billing operations related to inpatient services in the hospital. The role includes preparing bills, ensuring accuracy of charges, coordinating with clinical and non-clinical departments, processing insurance claims, and providing patients/attendants with transparent billing information.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Patient Admission & Billing Setup
Register and create inpatient files in the hospital system.
Collect and verify patient details, insurance coverage, and required documents.
Daily Billing Operations
Record and update daily charges (room rent, investigations, procedures, doctor visits, nursing, pharmacy, consumables, etc.).
Monitor patient accounts regularly to ensure accurate posting of services.
Generate interim bills as per patient/attendant request.
Insurance & TPA Coordination
Pre-authorization and approvals for cashless patients.
Coordinate with insurance/TPA for approvals, queries, and claim submissions.
Maintain proper documentation for insurance billing.
Final Billing & Discharge
Prepare final bill and ensure all charges are accurately captured before discharge.
Explain bill details to patients/attendants.
Process payments (cash, card, insurance, corporate).
Reconcile advance deposits and issue refund/receipt as required.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain billing records as per hospital policies.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (GST, TDS, etc.).
Handle confidential financial and patient information with integrity.
Customer Service
Address patient queries regarding billing.
Provide clear communication on deposits, charges, and outstanding amounts.
Maintain a courteous and professional approach with patients and their families.
Coordination with Departments
Work closely with nursing, pharmacy, diagnostics, and doctors to capture services rendered.
Coordinate with accounts department for reconciliation.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Hospital Administration, or related field.
Experience in hospital billing (IP billing preferred).
Knowledge of TPA/insurance process.
Strong computer skills (Hospital Information System, MS Office).
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
