The Role:

DAZN is redefining how fans experience live sports through world-class streaming technology. We are looking for an

iOS Principal Engineer (Tech Lead)

with a strong technical foundation and deep expertise in building

high-performance video streaming applications

for

iOS Mobile and Apple TV

platforms.

In this role, you will take ownership of the

architecture, technical direction, and delivery

of scalable, user-centric video applications used by millions of fans globally. You'll mentor engineers, drive engineering excellence, and collaborate closely with global product, design, and backend teams to shape the future of DAZN's iOS ecosystem.

What you'll be doing:

Architecture & Development

Architect, design, and develop advanced video streaming applications for

iOS and tvOS

. Write clean, modular, and maintainable

Swift

code aligned with iOS best practices. Optimize applications for

performance, scalability, stability, and energy efficiency

.

Technical Leadership

Lead end-to-end technical design and implementation of complex features. Conduct in-depth

code and architecture reviews

, ensuring high engineering standards. Evaluate and adopt emerging iOS frameworks, playback technologies, and tools to improve product quality and developer productivity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with

Product Managers, Designers, QA, and Backend Engineers

to translate business requirements into elegant technical solutions. Collaborate on

release planning

and ensure seamless integration across platforms and services.

Video Streaming Expertise

Implement and optimize streaming workflows using

HLS, DASH, DRM, and AVFoundation

. Integrate and customize playback experiences using

AVPlayer

and third-party SDKs. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to

playback, buffering, and adaptive bitrate streaming

.

Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing

Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of learning and excellence. Lead technical workshops, architecture discussions, and best-practice sessions.

Release & Delivery

Contribute to

CI/CD pipelines

, automated testing, and release management. Support teams during release cycles with hands-on problem-solving when needed.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in

Computer Science, Engineering

, or a related field.

Experience

8+ years

of professional experience in iOS development, with a strong focus on

video streaming applications

. Proven experience delivering high-quality apps for

iOS Mobile and Apple TV

.

Technical Skills

Strong proficiency in

Swift

; working knowledge of

Objective-C

. Solid understanding of

UIKit, SwiftUI, Core Data, Combine

, and modern iOS architecture patterns. Deep expertise in

AVFoundation, HLS, DRM

, and adaptive streaming technologies. Experience with

REST / GraphQL APIs

, asynchronous programming, and concurrency. Strong understanding of

memory management, app lifecycle

, and performance optimization. Experience with

CI/CD pipelines

, automated testing, and deployment workflows.

Soft Skills

Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global, and collaborative environment.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience with

tvOS

and Apple TV design guidelines. Exposure to

third-party video SDKs

, analytics, and performance monitoring tools. Familiarity with

Agile / Scrum

methodologies and distributed teams. Experience contributing to

technical documentation and architecture diagrams.
