The Inventory Assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records through regular stock audits, system updates, and coordination with cross-functional teams. The role ensures stock accuracy, proper documentation, timely resolution of discrepancies, and effective reporting to support planning and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular stock audits, cycle counts, and physical verifications to ensure inventory accuracy.
Track stock movements including inward, outward, inter-warehouse/store transfers, adjustments, and returns, ensuring real-time system updates.
Investigate stock variances and coordinate with warehouse and store teams to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation such as GRN, GRC, stock transfer notes, and inventory adjustment entries.
Maintain and monitor records for damaged, aged, slow-moving, and non-moving inventory.
Coordinate with purchase, warehouse, and store teams to resolve pending stock issues and discrepancies.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and labeling standards to prevent damage, shrinkage, or misplacement of textile items.
Track arrival shortages and follow up with warehouse teams and suppliers until closure.
Provide accurate stock availability, consumption, and movement reports to support the planning team.
Prepare and share daily, weekly, and monthly inventory MIS reports with management.
Support continuous improvement in inventory control and stock management processes.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of inventory management and warehouse operations.
Proficiency in MS Excel and inventory management systems (ERP/WMS).
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Good coordination and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
Ability to handle high-volume data and meet reporting deadlines.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a similar role (preferred).
Experience in retail, textile, FMCG, or distribution environments is an advantage.
