The Interventional Radiologist will be responsible for performing minimally invasive, image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to diagnose, treat, and manage various medical conditions. The role includes collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high clinical quality, maintaining safety standards, and driving excellence in patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
Perform a wide range of interventional radiology procedures including:
Vascular interventions (angioplasty, stenting, embolization, thrombolysis)
Non-vascular interventions (biopsies, drainages, abscess management)
Oncology procedures (TACE, RFA, microwave ablation, chemo port insertions)
Image-guided pain management procedures
Emergency interventions such as trauma-related embolization and bleeding control
Interpret diagnostic imaging including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Fluoroscopy relevant to IR procedures.
Provide consultation to referring physicians regarding appropriate IR procedures and treatment plans.
Offer pre-procedure assessment and post-procedure management for patients.
Ensure accurate documentation of procedures, clinical findings, and outcomes.
Operational & Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure all procedures adhere to hospital policies, clinical safety protocols, and infection control standards.
Work collaboratively with the radiology team, surgeons, physicians, and nursing staff.
Participate in department meetings, audits, morbidity/mortality discussions, and quality improvement activities.
Maintain equipment readiness and coordinate with biomedical/operations teams for timely maintenance.
Contribute to hospital goals such as reducing procedure turnaround time and enhancing patient experience.
Patient Care Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centric care.
Conduct patient counseling regarding interventions, risks, benefits, and follow-up care.
Ensure timely communication with patients and families regarding outcomes and recovery plans.
Prioritize patient safety, radiation protection, and minimal procedural discomfort.
Educational & Training Responsibilities
Participate in clinical training programs for staff, nurses, and trainees.
Engage in continuous medical education (CME) and stay updated with advancements in interventional radiology.
Contribute to public awareness activities when required (e.g., patient education videos, awareness days).
Qualifications & Requirements
MBBS + MD/DNB in Radiology from a recognized medical institution.
Fellowship/Specialized training in Interventional Radiology (desirable).
Valid Medical Registration and compliance with national medical regulatory standards.
Strong procedural skills, clinical judgement, and ability to handle emergency cases.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-interaction skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high accuracy and efficiency.
