The Internal Auditor is responsible for evaluating the company's financial systems, internal controls, compliance processes, and operational efficiency. The role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, identifies risks, and strengthens internal controls across all departments.
Key Responsibilities1. Financial Audit & Review
Conduct periodic audits of financial transactions, ledgers, journals, and accounts.
Verify accuracy of
invoices, expenses, payments, receipts, bank reconciliations
, and accounting entries.
Review compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.
2. Internal Controls Assessment
Assess the effectiveness of internal controls across procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, and cash management.
Identify gaps or risks and recommend improvements.
Monitor adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
3. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with
GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act
and other regulatory norms.
Perform risk assessment for financial and operational processes.
Report potential fraud, misstatements, or policy violations.
4. Process Audit
Audit procurement cycle: PO/WO, vendor selection, quotation comparison, material inward.
Audit project costing, billing, subcontractor payments (especially important in construction/interior industry).
Review fixed assets, depreciation, petty cash, and employee reimbursements.
5. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare detailed audit reports with observations, risk areas, non-compliances, and corrective actions.
Present audit findings to management and follow up on the implementation of action points.
Maintain proper documentation of audit workpapers and evidence.
6. Coordination & Support
Work closely with Finance, HR, Admin, Projects, Procurement, and Operations teams.
Assist in statutory audits by external auditors.
Support management in cost control and process improvement initiatives.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal control systems.
Good understanding of GST, TDS, financial statements, and compliance norms.
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
Ability to detect irregularities, verify documents, and perform reconciliations.
Strong communication and report-writing skills.
Knowledge of
Tally, ERP systems
, and MS Excel.
Educational Qualification & Experience
B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance)
or
CA Inter / CMA Inter
preferred.
2-8 years of experience in
auditing or internal audit
, preferably in finance/ construction/ contract-based companies.
Experience in project audits, vendor audits, and process audits is an added advantage.
