An Insurance Verification Specialist in the dental billing domain is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely verification of patients' dental insurance coverage. This role involves coordinating with insurance providers, updating coverage details in practice management software, and supporting dental practices in streamlining their billing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification:
Verify patients' insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage details.
Identify and confirm coverage for dental procedures, including limitations, waiting periods, and frequency.
Coordination with Insurance Providers:
Contact insurance companies via phone, email, or online portals to verify coverage details.
Resolve discrepancies and clarify unclear benefits or policy terms.
Documentation and Data Entry:
Accurately document verified insurance information, including deductibles, co-pays, and maximum coverage limits, in practice management systems (e.g., Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft).
Maintain up-to-date records of insurance plans and patient data.
Support for Billing Processes:
Provide detailed breakdowns of insurance coverage to the billing team.
Collaborate with claims specialists to ensure accurate submission of claims.
Customer Service:
Assist dental offices by responding to inquiries regarding patient insurance coverage.
Educate patients on their insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs.
Compliance and Confidentiality:
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines in handling patient information.
Stay informed about changes in insurance policies, codes, and regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (required). Additional training in medical or dental billing is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 6 month of experience in insurance verification or dental billing.

Technical Skills:
