Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable

Insurance Verification / Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist

to join our healthcare billing team. In this role, you will be responsible for contacting insurance companies to verify patient benefits and eligibility prior to services being rendered. Your work will ensure timely billing and accurate patient information, helping both the clinic and the patient avoid delays and unexpected costs.

Responsibilities:

Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage prior to appointments or procedures. Contact insurance companies via phone or online portals to gather benefits information. Confirm co-pay, deductible, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket maximums. Determine authorization, pre-certification, or referral requirements. Accurately enter all insurance and benefit details into the EHR or billing system. Communicate verification outcomes to scheduling and billing teams. Notify patients of insurance coverage issues or potential out-of-pocket costs. Follow up with insurance companies on any pending or unclear benefits.

Requirements:

1+ years of experience in insurance verification, medical billing. Strong understanding of insurance terminology and payer requirements. Experience with EMR/EHR systems and insurance portals (e.g., Availity, Navinet, etc.). Excellent communication, organizational, and data entry skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple verification daily.
