Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze individual and group health insurance applications and related documents.
Assess medical history, diagnosis, treatment plans, and current health status to evaluate risk.
Determine eligibility, coverage terms, and premium rates based on underwriting guidelines.
Collaborate with internal teams such as claims, sales, and customer service for case discussions.
Monitor and update underwriting rules in line with market trends and IRDAI guidelines.
Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and professionally to stakeholders.
Assist in developing and refining underwriting processes and documentation.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data protection laws.
Provide technical input on policy wording and underwriting systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare, life sciences, insurance, or a related field.
Proven experience (2-5 years) in health insurance underwriting, preferably in a broker or insurance company setting.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance policies, and regulatory norms.
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and risk assessment skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and underwriting software tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle multiple cases and meet deadlines with accuracy.
