Review insurance applications and supporting documents to evaluate risk exposure.
Analyze statistical data, reports, and previous claims to determine the likelihood of future losses.
Determine coverage amounts, premiums, and policy terms.
Use underwriting software and tools to assess risk and produce quotes.
Communicate decisions and explain underwriting policies to brokers, agents, and clients.
Collaborate with actuaries, claims adjusters, and sales teams to refine risk assessment criteria.
Ensure compliance with company guidelines, state regulations, and industry standards.
Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and policy details.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field (CPCU or similar certification preferred).
2+ years of experience in underwriting, insurance, or risk assessment.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Proficient in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
