The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all insurance-related activities in the hospital, including verifying patient coverage, securing pre-authorizations, and ensuring accurate and timely claims submission. This role acts as a bridge between patients, hospital departments, and insurance providers to ensure smooth reimbursement processes and compliance with hospital policies and payer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to admission, procedures, or services.
Obtain prior authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals for inpatient and outpatient services.
Accurately prepare, review, and submit hospital insurance claims in compliance with payer regulations.
Track and follow up on pending claims, denials, and rejections to ensure timely resolution.
Communicate with patients to explain insurance coverage, co-payments, and financial responsibilities.
Coordinate with hospital billing, admissions, and clinical departments to ensure accurate documentation for claims.
Assist in audits and maintain detailed records of insurance correspondence and claim outcomes.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with insurance representatives to resolve issues efficiently.
Provide periodic reports to hospital management on claim status, denial trends, and reimbursement performance.
Minimum5-10 years of experience in hospital insurance coordination, medical billing, or revenue cycle
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients and staff.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Proficiency in hospital information systems, EMR, and MS Office applications.
